I don't usually post half-done stuff here on my Althemy blog, but I'm so excited about this one that I just had to share it with you guys.
Here's what happened: recently I was hired as a cosplayer for an IT conference - one of those events that have understood the importance of entertaining its audience, concluding that having cosplayers around is a sure bet. With the season 6 airing as we speak, the organizers have explicitly asked me to do a Game of Thrones cosplay. Now, I've worn my Cersei way too many times, so I grew bored of that costume. To boot, it was mainly based on her looks (and personality) from the first three seasons - in the mean time, the Lady Lannister had suffered some horrible losses and blows, which reflected both on her appearance and her attitude, so that costume became a bit outdated. In order to refresh my cosplay - and have fun wearing it - I had to seriously do something about it.
The answer was quite easy: just change the hair. Instead of wearing Cersei's usual elaborate hairdo, I borrowed my friend Wacky Cherry's old Noiz wig which, cut roughly as it was, looked exactly like the former Queen's shorn locks. I used my first Cersei dress, without the belt and with a new pendant to make it seem a tad different. I studied Lena Headey's facial structure very carefully in order to nail the makeup. I did my best to get Cersei's new expression and attitude right - which wasn't that difficult to accomplish, given that this godawful spring weather with cold rains for days did leave me in a foul mood. And ta-da! It turned out unexpectedly good, and the overall impression was different indeed. People loved it.
In fact, I'm honestly surprised by how well my short-haired Cersei was received - a lot of people even said they preferred this version to my first take on the costume, or that they had to double-check the pictures to make sure it's me, and not a Lena Headey shot from the set. This enthusiasm made me rediscover Cersei's character - and now, of course, I need to proceed and make her black-and-gold mourning gown from season 6, in order to complete my new take on this cosplay. It will probably happen soon - sooner than I've planned, but to hell with it.
I apologize for the horrible, horrible picture quality - there were no professional photographers at the event, so it's either my selfie cell phone camera which is pure potato, or random pics by friends. But since I'll proceed with making a full cosplay out of this one, there will be high quality pictures in the nearest future.
Now, I need you guys to do me a favor. Go to my partner's site here on Althemy - his name is Endymion and he's joined the platform only recently - and help me persuade him to do a season 6 version of Jaime!

P.S. Given that recently I'm all about cosplay makeup - it's a field where I'm experimenting the most - would you like me to make a blog post about general tips and tricks of the trade? I've levelled up and I'd be happy to share the knowledge...
